What

The final step is to edit our videos for publishing and viewing!

How

Chapter and verse numbers are added to one corner of the screen, and any additional captions or subtitles that are needed will appear at the bottom. For some passages, we add maps, family trees or other images to help with meaning and context just like in many printed Bibles.

Why

One reason the subtitles are added for certain terms is because it might be the first time ever a name or vocabulary item is translated into JSL. The team works with a committee of pastors and other members of the Deaf community in Japan to decide on appropriate ways to portray these new terms, and a Japanese caption will appear on the final video to help viewers match it to the lexical item in the printed Bible.

The JSLBible.org website, the Partner Guide, the monthly prayer calendar, and the monthly newsletters are produced by the JSL Bible Support Team, a group of volunteers who support the work of ViBi by helping produce English-language materials that increase awareness, encourage prayer, and facilitate fundraising and mobilization outside of Japan. All materials are approved by ViBi’s leaders before publication.
